Code of Conduct

E-mail Print PDF

ITALO STARS Football Club will endeavour to be the Leaders in an appropriate Code of Conduct for both Players and Spectators in 2008.

All Players and Spectators are asked to read and adhere to the Codes of Conduct laid out by the Football Federation of Australia (FFA), the NSW Dept. of Sport and Recreation and the Italo Stars Football Club.

Our goal is to prevent inappropirate behaviour and this will be achieved through education and constant reminders throughout the season. Where action is necessary, Italo Stars has adopted a formal procedure to deal with incidents.

Players, parents and spectators alike must all make it their responsibility to help prevent any incidents. This can be done easily if we all follow the Code of Conducts that we all agree to abide by when we simply attend an event. (If there is anyone that does not agree to abide by the Codes of Conduct, you are not welcome at any events involving Italo Stars.)

Highlighted points taken from the Codes of Conduct:

  • Play to Win. Try your hardest and never give up. Don't insult the opposition and the spectators by just turning up.
  • Play Fair. Winning is without value if victory has been achieved unfairly or dishonestly.
  • Don't use foul or abusive language. This code alone will make sporting events more enjoyable for everyone.
  • Respect the Referees decision without arguing. If we speak respectfully to the referees, maybe they will be willling to speak respectfully to us.
  • Thank Opponents, Referees and Coaches after the game. Whether you have won or lost, shake hands and say thank you. If your parents have taken you to the game, thank them for taking you.

What do we do when we are treated unfairly or unsportingly by the opposition, a spectator or the referee? (This applies to everyone, not just players.)

This is perhaps the most important issue, because we will be faced with over-aggressive tackles, inconsistent rulings and seemingly unfair play. So when it happens, what do we do?

  • Firstly, we know that we don't swear or argue with the referee.
  • Secondly, we don't swear or become abusive at the opposition.
  • A good place to start is just too look straight at the opposition or the referee. They will know you are not happy with what just took place.
