A titanic struggle at Barrow Lane last night rewarded spectators with some high quality soccer as young bloods Stars Women 2nd division succesfully brought down a very competent Byron Bay FC side for a 3-2 win. Early goals from Cara Brice at 5' and 20' and sealed by Lily Evans at 78'. A tremendous team effort, the only assurance of victory.
An action packed nail biter of a match tonight at Barrow Lane ended in extra time when Goonellabah Hornets finally caved in to relentless pressure from the young Italo Stars 2nd Division team, who finished strong 5-2. After a tough back and forward game the scores at full time were locked at 2-2, but in extra time the girls finally picked the lock on the Hornets back four and were able to slot home three goals in 12 minutes. U16 Girls (who are now placed into 2nd Division Womens for 2015) had their third straight win in the McMillan Cup to advance to the semi finals later this week. Match Report here.
After some early torrential rain the weather held off for a seven o'clock kick off in a game dominated by Stars with early and frequent goals.
